“National Energy is committed to making a meaningful contribution to the development of the sport of cricket in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, with particular emphasis on the south-western region of Trinidad.” This statement is integral to the sponsorship agreement signed between National Energy and the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) on 15 July 2015 at National Energy’s Head Office.
The agreement formalized the existing relationship between the two entities for the development of cricket in the south-west. National Energy and the TTCB will cooperate to achieve four (4) main goals:
- Developing cricketing skills among the youth in the south-west cricket zone;
- Establishing and maintaining an appropriate administrative management structure for the south-west cricket zone;
- Establishing self-sufficiency for the south-west cricket zone within a targeted time frame; and
- Developing women’s cricket in the south-west cricket zone.
Based on the agreement, all leagues and matches will be played in the south-western zone and branded with the National Energy brand. The TTCB will lend its support to the company’s youth development initiatives in the south-west.
Over the last two (2) years, steady improvement has been shown among clubs in the south-western zone. In particular, women’s cricket has been growing, with several players from the zone excelling on the national level. National Energy is pleased to strengthen its commitment to the advancement of cricket in this part of the country.
