CAMILLE BLACKMAN
General Counsel
Camille Blackman is an experienced Attorney-at-Law with over 25 years of professional experience. She joined National Energy in 2005 and currently spearheads the Company's legal function. In addition to her role at National Energy, Camille also holds the position of Company Secretary to the Board of Directors for three entities: National Energy, La Brea Industrial Development Company Limited (LABDICO), and National Energy (Guyana) Inc.
As the head of the legal department, Camille's primary responsibility is to safeguard the company from risk and liability. She oversees National Energy's corporate governance and compliance function, ensuring that the company adheres to legal and regulatory requirements. Her role also involves negotiating project agreements, pier user agreements, and leases on behalf of the Company.
Camille works closely with external Counsel in matters of arbitration and litigation, seeking legal representation when necessary to protect the interests of National Energy.
Before joining National Energy, Camille held the position of Senior Legal Officer at The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited. She has also served in senior positions at the Office of The Attorney General and the Ministry of National Security, gaining valuable experience in different sectors of the legal field.
Camille's educational background includes an LLB degree from The University of the West Indies and an LEC from Hugh Wooding Law School. She has also undergone extensive training in various areas such as project financing, supply chain management, contract negotiation, project management, and corporate governance, further enhancing her expertise in these domains.
