Manager, Business Development (Non-Renewables) & Innovation

Daren Ragoonanan is a highly accomplished professional holding the position of Manager of Business Development (Non-Renewables) & Innovation at National Energy. With a career spanning over 18 years at the organisation, Daren has consistently demonstrated his expertise and made significant contributions across various sectors, including construction, manufacturing, business development, and energy.

In his current role, Daren identifies, appraises, and leads the techno-economic evaluation and development of energy-based and gas-related projects. He also spearheads the establishment and management of the innovation process within the company, ensuring its continuous growth and success.

Daren's journey with National Energy began in 2005, and since then, he has amassed a remarkable list of accomplishments. Notably, he led the implementation of the Solar House at the University of Trinidad and Tobago's Pt. Lisas Campus on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries. He also played a key role in the successful implementation of Solar LED lighting at the West Park Savannah in Diego Martin.

Daren served as a valuable project team member for the initiation, evaluation, and implementation of the 100kW Solar PV System at the Preysal Service Station. He was also instrumental in the operationalisation of the National Energy (Guyana) Inc. office in Georgetown, Guyana, contributing to the company's expansion and regional impact.

Daren's educational background is equally impressive, reflecting his commitment to continuous learning and professional development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from The University of the West Indies (UWI) and a Master of Science in Production Engineering and Management, also from UWI. He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Science from India. Daren is a NEBOSH-certified professional and has received certifications in Organizational Behaviour, Business Continuity, Marketing, Financial Modelling, Bulletproof Management, and Project Planning.

Daren is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago and is a registered engineer with the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago. He has also made significant contributions to academia as a registered teacher and lecturer at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, specifically within the Process Engineering Department, where he has taught second-year and final-year students.
